Townes Van Zandt, “Tecumseh Valley” (1968)

I just discovered this often-overlooked, under-appreciated artist.  What a touching song and a great performance.  I always wonder what happens between Caroline’s father dying and her turn to “whoring.”  It’s such a sudden contrast that gets me every time.  A very simple song structure, but really effective.  I also like how the first verse repeats at the end… nice and symmetrical.
